4D Surface Change Module

Analyze how surfaces evolve over time, temperature, magnetic field, or another additional dimension.

Combine multiple measurements into a 4D dataset – import a sequence of 3D measurements taken from the same surface at different times or under varying environmental conditions. Merge them into a four-dimensional dataset (x, y, z, t), where t can represent time, temperature, pressure, magnetic field, or any other linear or nonlinear fourth variable. Add or remove measurements from the series at any point. Align data precisely using both automatic and manual alignment tools. Apply preprocessing steps consistently across all measurements in the series.

Visualize surface, profile, and point evolution – view the entire series in a grid layout or browse through individual time steps. Create animated visualizations showing how the surface transforms over time or other changing conditions. Navigate through the dataset with flyover views and record animations for presentations. Extract linear profiles and observe how they shift across the series. Generate transverse profiles to monitor the evolution of a single point’s height.

Produce statistics and identify key changes – calculate statistical data showing how parameters evolve across the series, including tables with min/max/standard deviation, control charts, scatter plots, and histograms. Use Karhunen-Loève Transform (PCA) to identify and visualize zones where changes are most significant.

Quantify wear and material buildup – compare two successive topography measurements from the same area to evaluate surface degradation or deposition. Compute global parameters like projected area and volume, or assess local variations at specific points, lines, or regions. Set tolerance thresholds and visually flag out-of-spec areas. Create striking 3D renderings of wear or buildup, animate them, and cross-section for detailed 2D profile comparisons with interactive measurement capabilities.
